What is Caller ID?
Caller ID is a facility that identifies and displays the telephone numbers of incoming calls made to a particular line. In maximum home phone service or VoIP services, the caller ID display is based on the capability phone device. If the phone hardware supports caller ID display and the incoming number has the caller id in the centralized database, the caller id will be displayed. If you are placing calls from your basic talk phone number, the caller id will be displayed if the receiver has the phone that supports caller id.
How to Turn On Caller ID Display for Basic Talk Home Phone Number?
The caller id display feature for the basic talk home phone number is enabled by default. Only the phone number will be displayed on the other side. Basic talk does not support the name display on outbound caller ID. Similarly, the Caller ID feature is an automatic feature and it can not be turned off.
How to Use Caler ID Block Feature?
As a basic talk user, you can block the outbound caller id. This will ensure that the phone number is not displayed on the outbound calls.
Block Caller ID for a Single Call
First Dial *67. Now, enter the phone number that you want to call. The phone number will not be displayed for this call alone. Caller ID is enabled again once you hang up the call.
Block Caller ID for All Calls
You can block the caller id for all calls under the features section on your online account.
You will be taken directly to the caller id block features page. Just select caller id block on. You are done. No caller id will be displayed on any calls. If you want to disable caller id block, you need to turn off the feature.
What Information Will Be Displayed When I Call Any Number after Enabling Caller ID Block?
Once the caller ID block feature is enabled on your number, all the call will be displayed with the name anonymous, Private Caller or Private will be displayed.
Why the Incoming Caller ID is Not Displaying the Full Name?
As per the industry standard, the caller id has 15 digit character limit. Both your last name and the initial of your first name are displayed when you place a call if your last name is less than 12 characters in length.
